Personally, parodies are not a favorite type of film simply because the scenes are so absolutely ridiculous in nature. First of all, the movie is based on a parody of a well-known film made the decade before. Second, the cast is a conglomeration of many well known actors who pull of their fun making parts with the seriousness of a seasoned professional.
Consider how hard it would be to make a parody film. While the scenes are totally unrealistic and absolutely bizarre, the actors must approach the role as if it is a very serious film. It makes me wonder how many takes were filmed before the group could keep a straight face during a serious moment that really was not serious.
In truth, I think making a parody of another film may be one of the hardest roles any actor is asked to play. How to make a serious film look funny and serious at the same time would take a lot of talent, not to mention self control.
