There is a trick to getting your favorite DVD rentals. Didn’t know that, did ya? It is truly an art form, and it can be especially cumbersome when the holidays are near.
The holidays bring out the best and the worst in people. People have been shopping and waiting in line all day. Once they hit the late afternoon, their patience has worn thin in the DVD rental store line. Other people already have had family Christmas parties, office holiday parties and are maxed out with their jolly good personas. Again, the patience runs out in the DVD rental store when you grab the last copy of their desired movie right in front of them.
Here are some other tips to help get you through the holidays if you plan to watch DVD rentals anytime in the next month.
1. Drive really fast. In order to get a decent movie, you need to beat the crowd to the store.
2. If you can’t drive fast, leave early. It is acceptable to stand outside and wait for them to open their doors.
3. When you do arrive early and find your desired movie, prepare to wait in line. You will get your best thinking done during this time.
4. Just hand over your wallet or purse. There’s no point in expecting any change back.
5. Expect to have a late fee. Whatever your charge is before you walk out the door, you might as well double it right away and save yourself the hassle of paying it later. Thinking ahead is great.
6. When you get home, pretend like you wanted the scratched DVD rental that is dirty. A movie that skips around is much more entertaining than one that plays all in order. There’s no guesswork and it gets boring watching a move that way.
DVD rentals are a way to entertain yourself, just not necessarily in the way you had anticipated. The tempers in the checkout line, the yelling at the cashier, the rants you get after arriving home and telling your choices were limited. It’s all great fun and part of the holiday DVD rentals experience.
