Blu-Ray player - any good? : Movies

As I haven't yet caught up with the rest of the world and bought a Blu-Ray Player, I was wondering whether it is worth parting with my hard earned cash and buying one. From what have read Blu-Ray is coming out on top over HD Players. So what do you think? Are they any better than standard DVD players?

I have children, so we purchased a PS3 when we got our new Plasma TV this summer. I don't know if theres an above grade Blu ray available, but the few movies we have on Blu Ray look great and the kids love playing PS3 games, and buying a PS3 isn't really much of an investment over just buying an "only" Blu ray player. Hope this helps your decision.

Blu-ray is awesome if you already have a flat screen HD tv, if not save your money because there is not that big of a difference. Blu-ray movies cost a little more than your standard DVD too.
