| Ok, I have to admit that Childs Play was the scariest movie that I have seen, mind you not too much freaks me out but I saw this movie when I was very young. I believe I was about 3 or 4 when I saw it, and at eh time I didnt understand the storyline obviously, so I thought dolls could just come to life! I also had an extensive collection of Cabbage Patch dolls, which didnt help my fear of dolls, and to this day Chuckie still scares the bejeezus out of me.
[flash=]"The Truth Is Out There"[/flash]
I like The Breed, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Resident Evil. I like a lot of things with zombies. They really freak me out.
Scariest Movie and I would say most damaging of all time would have to be JAWS.. I mean that movie made me afraid to swim for atleast a decade..
I remember even being afraid to swim in my pool, course its not rational but still i was afraid I think there are probably 10's of millions who didnt swim because of this. ![]()
I would have to disagree I think that The Exorcist is still very scary and I can't watch it. Anything that could happen in real life scares me and that was true story too. I also don't like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the same reasons. If you can laugh during the first one my heart goes out to you then you get my respect. lol
I have to admit that I couldn't sleep for a week after I saw "The Ring", I kept imagining that Sahara was going to crawl out of the TV and get me, or that when I walked into the room my husband would be sitting there with that look on his face, scared to death! I don't know what people are talking about when they say that film isn't scary!
I also was quite disturbed by "Rest Stop", especially the scenes with the policeman, and "The Descent" was very good, though I didn't care for the ending.
I would have to disagree with #1. I think i actually laughed the first time I saw it.
One of the scariest movies I've ever seen was "House of 1000 Corpses" It is super creepy and the people who made it must be super twisted.
I'm not too affected by the slasher type of movies...they're fairly predictable. When I first saw the Exorcist, I was just a kid and my brother took me to go see it. He laughed, so it made it a little lighter for me and even though I like the story it's not so scary for me especially now! It opened a lot of doors though. I loved "The Haunting" and even the remake of it which didn't make the list, but had awesome effects!! "The Grudge" was pretty good too...just the way it was filmed and the creepy crawl down the stairs that the one character did was just awesome!! I agree, however, with most of the list. Oh, and I think it was Rob Zombie who did the "House of 1000 Corpses" and he did a follow up too which was really gory as well, "Devil's Rejects"...with the same characters.
Actually Movies dont scare me anymmore!! I used to get really scared when I first watched evildead way back dont remeber when!! But after that I dont remember any movie giving me a scare
I remember seeing the Exorcist come out when I was about 13 and it scared the heck out of me. For days, I was afraid to be alone or in the dark. Whenever Tubular Bells came on the radio, I had to change the channel. I'm now 49 and it still gives me the willies to think about the movie.
The Oriental remakes are scary on a different level, they have a creepiness factor that belongs on its own playing field. Some movies are more gore these days to replace scary, so I guess these could be considered a scare tactic, but after awhile they seem unoriginal. I think timing also makes movies more scary. Movies I saw as a kid had much more impact on me, than newer movies. When I originally saw the original Salem's Lot, I was about 7, and it terrified me. I don't think if I rewatched it today it would have that effect.
