Just curious about how people think the show/characters have been going so far.

Personally, I'm pretty disappointed on most fronts.smallville 1-8 DVDs Box Set
Clark seems just as clueless (big picture wise) as the last few years, he always needs Chloe to basically tell him what to do, and has been turned into nothing more than a really strong fast guy. He's rarely proactive about anything -- he just reacts to things. Where are the actual choices that are supposed to shape his character and make him an icon in the future? That kind of happened last season, but it looks like it hasn't stuck. This is probably b/c the season is still young and there haven't been any cosmic problems for him to solve (other than in the opener).smallville1-8 DVDs Box setIt just gets really boring watching Clark throw around little people and break things. He's not supposed to be a GA or Batman level crimefighter. The dude can shoot fire from his eyes and ****, lets so something interesting. Some conflict outside of petty beat-em-ups is what Clark needs. I wish Braniac would come back. Hopefully, in Justice and future JL episodes Clark will take the lead, instead of playing second fiddle to Green Arrow. I mean, how lame would a GA led JL be.

Chloe's ubergenius status is highly annoying...she's got the Smallvile Guide to the Bloody Galaxy in her damn computer, but other than that I think that shes one of the few characters that the writers have done a good job with (overall anyway). I like that she gives Clark advice etc, and she seems to be his only connection to the outside world.

Lana is becoming borderline unwatchable. She just dove right in to the Lex world and seems to be blind to everything around her. That scene in the elevator with Dr.Groll was painful to watch. I mean, now shes down with the evil look-haunting family references-amateur blackmail thing? Come on. She just flips it on like a switch. The Lexana relationship is just cliche lines thrown back and forth. I guess this will probably change with the upcoming "drama" in Lexana land, but I have basically no faith that it will turn out interesting rather than contrived.

Lex, who should be hands down the most interesting character to watch, is also kind of flat. He was a total pussy in "Reunion" -- I mean, Lex Luthor letting Green Arrow get the better of him (not just physically) is about as low as it can get. GREEN ARROW for Gods sake. No crafty revenge, nothing to turn GA's stomach and make him shake just thinking of how far Lex will go to get what he wants. Instead, we got a Lex that was exactly what he isn't supposed to be: a victim. All he had was a snappy line at the end. smallville 1-8 DVDs Box DVDs
This is really what I'm least fond of. Lex's transformation has been danced around for 5 years now. He's almost turned a few times, but even then we have no motivation. Why is Lex going to go bad? Is it just that he wants more power? Why does he want the power? smallville 1-8 DVDs Box Set The good versions of Lex explain why he hates Superman. SV has nothing on this front. Why does Lex eventually have some serious beef with Superman, and all other superpowered people. Is it just b/c they can run faster and jump higher than he can? smallville 1-8 DVDs Box Set

Sorry for this rant, but I think SV is dropping the ball. They have some great source material, but it looks like they aren't going to keep it together. Lois is the only character that I think is shaping up in an intersting and useful way.smallville 1-8 DVDs Box set
