| I love movies based on true stories. I think they are the best types movies. They real you into the story and you can actually imagine yourself being the character and being immersed into the past lives of those characters who have already been in that situation. I hope this trend of realistic or reality movies continues.
I like alot of movies based on true stories. One of my favorite examples would be the old "Walking Tall'' series of movies that was based on the life & times of Buford Pusser. I also love watching "Coal Miner's Daughter" over and over again. I'm sure without a doubt there are some exaggerations added to the story line but as long as it is pretty much portrayed the way things actually happened I think they are well worth watching. And what about "Walk the Line''? This has to be one of the best movies ever made that was based on a true story in my opinion.

I really like movies that are based on true stories, if the plot of the movie is really powerful then that movie will resonate forever in the memory of the watcher.
I am an Indian and Tamil is my mother tongue. Often, movies are made based on true stories in Tamil. I think, its because, people here likes to see the reality more than imaginary things. Its the taste of Tamil people. But I don't know how much impact does a true story hollywood movie would have.
I would have to agree with choagin, not all films based on true stories can be very entertaining, but it gives them a more realistic touch rather than the predictable large budget Hollywood film.
One of my personal favourites has got to be "Fire in the Sky". I am very skeptical about UFO sightings, abductions and general paranormal activities, but after watching this film and finding out it was based on actual events in which several witnesses passed polygraph tests and the stories all matched, I have become slightly less skeptical.
Movies based on true stories are the best. I love them. I am a big fan of Lifetime. lol Movies based on true stories really make you think like wow this wasn't just a movie this happened, it is still happening, and it could be happening right now. Or I had no idea. How can I make this better ? I don't know about others but it definitely makes me more considerate of others.
Even though I love to see imagination soar, movies based on true stories are very special. When you watch something and know it's really happened - well, perhaps not exactly like that but the basic story did take place - somehow it makes a big difference. "The Pursuit of Happyness" for example, already mentioned here. If it were just a movie, it would not be so powerful.
I love movies based on true events!! You can really see possibility in them for your own life! Recently we watched "Pursuit of Happyness" and I had to have one of my daughters and her fella watch it as they have been facing some rough times. It was really inspiring! I also have a huge interest in things historical, so movies done about actual historic events trip my trigger big time and make me want to go check out the actual happening. Maybe history teachers should think about that sort of thing.
i think titanic was the only best movies in history about the true stories that has happened. I really didn't put any hope on the True Storyline Movie industry because it's kind of boring. But a historical story will be different.
If the movie is done properly than yeah, it works. The problem is some movies don't stick exactly to the story or they exaggerate things too much. I think this tends to be the case with movies based off of books, as well. But, I agree if done right these movies are great.
