Movies based on true stories are wonderful. I did like the Titanic, It makes me understand more about our history, some what of how it happened, and from the true story happening we learn from it, we learn probably about the iceberg it hit, how to make ships better, and how to possibly survive and to help your fellow man.

Well sometimes they are very good and can be beneficial to watch. But some have been so poorly written that it really did not do the justice it should have done. So I am kind of in the middle on this one, and am not really sure about these types of movies. I can say that I do watch them on occasion but do not make it a habit to watch them frequently.

I like most of movies which is based on the true story like, Pursuit of Happyness, Patch Adams, 911, even I like The American Haunting. Those movies really gives us something to learn. Because it is based on the true events, we are tend to be more believe on the story and get more meaning from the movies

I think 300 has shown that almost any genre can be made into an entertaining movie. When we studied the Battle of Thermopylae in high school, I never found myself thinking, wow, this would be a movie I want to see, but with a little muscle and special effects, and some twisting of the event, a very good fantasy flick is born. The nice thing is, it still retains much of its historical importance.

They are good because people get shocked about "that happened really" and get even more interest. Also they are a good source of inspiration.

My biggest problem with movies 'based' on a true story is just that. They're just based on it. So many times I've done fact checking after watching a movie of this type only to find that Hollywood has twisted the story so much that I know why they say based, because it really isn't anything like the original story.

I think movies based on true stories are the best. Most movies i've seen whether it be horror or drama when based on true stories it makes the movie a little bit more interesting then most because it makes you think a little bit more into detail.

I like movies that are based on true stories to me it seems to make the movies more meaningful. Into the Wild was a really good movie based on a true story. I also just saw one with Christian Bale that was awesome called rescue Dawn.
