It makes absolutely no sense to me that broadband has exploded, there are dozens of ways to legally download dvds from the Internet, and people still go to the video store and hope the movie they want is there. I did it myself the other day. The only reasons that I can think of not to download dvd movies online are; fear of prosecution, they don’t have a dvd burner on their computer, or they just forget they can (my excuse).
The forgetfulness will go away when downloading movies becomes more of a habit. Second, given that people usually replace their computers every 3 to 5 years, most people will have a dvd burner in the foreseeable future. All that’s left is the legality. There are certainly places you can go online to steal movies. However, there are a growing number of companies that are packed with more movie content than your local Blockbuster, and are perfectly legal.
So why wouldn’t you download dvds online if it was simpler, cheaper, and legal? I have no idea. You save money, time, and own the movie forever when you download and burn dvds from the web.
